Teaching Experience

I have worked with ages 5 to 13 in Preparatory Schools in England and abroad for the past 9 years. I have taught across the curriculum, particularly Maths and English, and was the Head of Religious Studies, preparing scholarship pupils for Common Entrance papers for a wide variety of senior schools.

Over the last four years I have worked in a selective Preparatory School in North London helping to create assessments, mark papers and interview 7+ applicants as well as preparing students for the 11+ exams. I am very familiar with the application and assessment process and particularly enjoy working with pupils on the Verbal Reasoning Papers!

I have a keen interest in English and Humanities and studied Latin at school and as part of my degree. I love weaving in ancient literature and etymology into my teaching of English to inspire a real love for the subject. I believe that enthusiasm is infectious and that it is incredibly important for a teacher to model this in every lesson! I feel that learning should be purposeful, engaging, but most of all fun.

As an experienced teacher I am passionate about ensuring that every pupil makes the progress they are capable of. I always ensure that my lessons and individual sessions are specifically adapted to my pupils’ needs providing stretch and challenge, and also providing support for specific SEN needs. I have worked with top sets, lower sets and mixed ability groups throughout my career and have a particular interest and experience supporting pupils with dyslexia.

About Maddi

I currently live in London and enjoy making the most of living in such a vibrant capital city - especially exploring all the different restaurants and cuisines and visiting the latest art exhibitions. Before living in London, I lived in Kampala Uganda teaching at an international school. I loved exploring the region - particularly seeing the silverback gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Keeping fit and healthy is a real priority for me and I practise Ashtanga yoga daily. I am an avid fan of cricket, and love nothing more than curling up on the sofa with my pet greyhound to watch a test match!
