I have extensive experience teaching in a range of different environments and situations, from homeschooling, one-on-one teaching at home, group sessions, and teaching in schools. I am well-equipped to work with SEN students have done so on several occasions. I take time to build rapport with students and make them comfortable in the learning process, which always yields the best results. I believe in tailoring lessons to suit specific needs, particularly when it comes to learning styles, so I will always work out what a new student's learning style is and modify our sessions accordingly. I find that this works especially well for students who have exams coming up and are finding current revision methods ineffective. I thoroughly enjoy helping students to build their confidence in areas they don't feel they have a good grasp on, and my passion for all of the subjects that I teach is reflected in my lessons.
Alongside teaching, I am in the process of co-authoring a book with a fellow historian at Oxford, covering a general history of Britain. I am also a trained presenter, and I use these skills both on camera and in my work as a pub quiz host. I am shortly starting an online Open University course on child psychology, a subject I have recently developed a keen interest in. I'm a huge fan of musical theatre, books, movies, video games, and I'm also a bit of a foodie - my weekends mostly consist of trying out new places for brunch!
