I started off educating children and adults in English when I was studying art in Spain. I then moved back to London to study psychology for education, so I could improve my teaching. I started to work in primary schools, where I was able to apply what I was learning at university. I became a learning mentor, which helped me combine the therapeutic aspects of psychology with education and really support those children who needed it the most.
After completing a master's in psychology, I moved on to teach in a specialist provision for older children and young adults that were not able to access mainstream education due to their mental health difficulties in combination with the effects of these on their education so far. I also worked for three years as a mental health support worker, which gave me the chance to support adults and youths with mental health after leaving education. During this time, I completed the induction and training of many new members of staff on how to support adults with mental health.
I then moved on to work for a psychological company managing the treatment of both adults and children who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. During this time, I have specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and now see patients as a CBT therapist while I continue to research and learn more about psychology and mental health. My aim is to help as many people as I can to learn the strategies they need to live the lives they want. I believe that we can really make a difference and improve quality of life by raising awareness about mental health and giving people easy access to support and information so that we can all become our own therapists and learn to juggle life in the most confident way possible without the need to reach rock bottom.
