Representing one in six global deaths, cancer remains at the forefront of humanity's health challenges. This course defines cancer clearly, before running students through therapies and the many challenges it presents.
Currently, one in six people will die from cancer, with that number likely to rise with the ageing population in the U.K. Understanding cancer is essential to treating it, hence why 20% of biochemical research is directly related to cancer. This course will cover the definition of cancer, its various hallmarks, traditional therapies, personalised therapies, and examples from the two hundred various types. It will also cover its causes, progression, and the challenges it presents. The material covered will be supplementary to GCSE/A-Level syllabi, but aimed at any student with interest in biological science.
