Teaching Experience

I have been teaching since obtaining my CELTA in 2001 which I used to teach English overseas. On returning to the United Kingdom, I became an essential/basic/key skills Educator delivering lessons to students in English, ESOL, mathematics and IT. Since I really enjoyed teaching mathematics (which not many do), most of my classes were at various levels of mathematics, from family numeracy to level 3 (A-level equivalent). All of my courses were developed by myself to address the needs of individuals or groups.

Throughout my career, I have been asked to create and deliver courses to colleagues to help strengthen their knowledge and skills, including helping teachers deal with ESOL students and fellow lecturers achieve a Level 2 numeracy qualification.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, for the last six years, I have been a private Educator, primarily online. My current workload includes both primary and secondary students and has given me the opportunity to learn bar models and Vedic maths. With this role, I freelance and teach students maths, English and science as requested. In addition, I teach in an international college in Vietnam where I deliver both primary and secondary (IGCSE) lessons to students in maths, English and Science.

About Kate C

I live in glorious North Wales with my husband, and since we live in such a beautiful location, I enjoy going for walks in the Snowdonia mountain range and on our local beach, as well as exploring further afield. I like going overseas on holidays too, the more unusual, the better.

I love to read, whether it is to learn or for relaxation and always have at least five books on my bedside table. These currently include a couple of novels to help me de-stress after a long day and a book about how dyslexia and dyscalculia affect maths acquisition (not as heavy as it sounds!) I have to read at least a couple of pages before turning the light off at night.

I have recently taken up boxing to get fit and despite the 5 am training sessions, I really, really enjoy it. I will never compete as a fighter and never be good at skipping, but there's something enjoyable about working so hard that your legs turn to jelly!

My other hobby is making jewellery which I started about five years ago. I use various mediums, including gemstones, wire and I find working with polymer clay most satisfying. Currently, I only make for myself, but I love to create personal pieces for family and friends too.

I love a challenge, both personally and professionally, and never want to stop being curious about everything and learning new things.
