Lesson Planning and New Trends in Language Teaching
This programme will help young and aspiring teachers understand the practical application of the many methods and approaches in language teaching, as well as understand what successful application of contemporary instructional knowledge is.
This course explains the benefits of the differentiated approach in language teaching and it offers different strategies for managing one of the most difficult aspects of teaching large groups of students: teaching and lesson planning for students at different levels of ability within the same group. The programme discusses various ways of understanding the students' motivation, as well as the ways in which we can foster intrinsic motivation in students to promote the learning process. The course elaborates on the usefulness of various teaching aids, what their benefits are, and what their shortcomings can be. The programme will focus on providing guidelines for designing successful lesson plans, together with all the necessary back-up plans and ways to improvise during class. Finally, this lesson series finishes with up-to-date information about testing and evaluation in the classroom and will offer useful guidelines for creating a reliable test.
