Dive into the rich and complex cultural history surrounding the production of Hip-Hop music. The course focuses on source analysis, examining Hip-Hop's relationship to various cultural outputs.
From the war-torn and poverty-stricken streets of Italy, Italian neorealism emerged as an explicit reaction against Fascist film-making, a political and aesthetic regeneration in cinema which resonated across the globe in the years to come. On this course, students look in depth at ground-breaking films from this era, acquiring a language with which to discuss the aesthetic choices applied to film-making of this period, as well as gaining a greater understanding of the widespread impact of this movement in the later half of the 20th century.
