Students will explore the number of characteristics that lead to the development of global superpowers and rank their characteristics based on a range of geopolitical factors. By examining examples throughout history, students will explore how the pattern of dominance has changed over time. Students will explore modern-day superpowers and how they can have a significant impact on the global economy, global politics and the environment. Students will explore concepts such as soft and hard power, analysing the advantages and disadvantages of both in the modern world. In order to make this analysis, students will examine various sources including social media statistics, newspaper articles and TED talks. This course will equip students with a wide range of transferrable skills for later life.
