Course Overview

Students will explore resources around the world and the impact that human actions are having on these resources and our environment. For this unit, students will explore resources and resource imbalance around the world. We will investigate resources including water, oil, renewable energy, plastic and fish. Through this exploration, we will look at real-life examples around the world including Coca Cola in Southern India and oil in the Arctic. For the second part of the unit, students will explore what we mean by sustainable development, looking at different actions we could take in order to better improve our planet and resource usage. Students will get the opportunity to reflect on the problems we have faced on earth and what we would do differently if we were to begin again on a new, imaginary planet. This course will equip students with a wide range of transferrable skills for later life.
